El libro está dividido en dos partes principales: métodos deterministas y métodos estocásticos en física computacional. Basado en problemas concretos, la primera parte discute la diferenciación numérica y la integración, así como el tratamiento de ecuaciones diferenciales ordinarias. Esto se amplía con una breve introducción a los números de las ecuaciones diferenciales parciales. La segunda parte se ocupa de la generación de números aleatorios, resume los conceptos básicos de los estocásticos y, posteriormente, presenta los métodos de Monte-Carlo (MC).
